Installation Guide without Data Backup

Your new device is ready to be installed.
Due to our easy self-service installation process you are able to do that on your own. Our installation guide supports you during the installation process and guides you through the following 3 steps:

Preparations

Usually the installation process takes up to 30 minutes. In some cases this time extends, depending on you internet connection and how much data has to be transferred.

In order to be ready and start right away, you can prepare and equip yourself with the following stuff:

  • Keep your sign in data ready (company email address and your password).

  • Connect your new device to the power supply.

  • Open this installation guide on a second device our use the printer function of your web browser in order to print this installation guide.

  • Make sure your internet connection is stable.

  • Remember to have a phone ready to contact your personal support if necessary.

  • A hot cup of coffee or tea shortens some waiting time.

Are you ready?
Let’s start with step 1.

Step 1: Activate Device

In this step your new device will be provided with important settings, apps and software.

Start your device – the setup usually takes only a few minutes. Sometimes this time adds up to 30 minutes (depending on your internet connection and installed software).

Choose your region e. g. „United States“ and confirm with „Yes“.
This setting sets your system language to your desired language and is also responsible for some country-specific settings.

Choose your desired keyboard layout e. g. „US“ and confirm with „Yes“.
This step determines the keyboard layout to the country-specific layout.

You are able to add a second keyboard layout. This is helpful, if you use two keyboards (e. g. „German“ and „English“). If you don’t need this, click „Skip“.

Now the setup of your device starts. This may take a few minutes. Please wait until your device is ready. An automatic reboot may be performed.

Verbinden Sie nun Ihr Gerät mit dem Internet. Wählen Sie Ihr WLAN aus und geben Ihr WLAN-Passwort ein. Falls Sie ein Netzwerkkabel zur Hand haben, können Sie auch dieses mit Ihrem Gerät verbinden.

Now your login screen is showing up. Please fill in your company email address and your password.
In case your login screen is not showing up, please check your internet connection or contact your support.

Now it’s halftime.
Time for a short break.

During your break your device is setting up your workspace. Usually this step only takes a few minutes, sometimes it can take up to 30 minutes.
Make sure your device is connected to the power supply and internet.

Your device will perform a restart and finish the configuration settings.

You are almost ready.
Now you have to configure „Windows Hello“ with a PIN.
„Windows Hello“ is a personal and secure way to access your Windows devices by the help of a personal identification number (PIN).

Choose your PIN. The Number must be at least 8 digits. You can decide if you want to add letters and symbols. If you don’t check this box, only numbers are allowed.

All Set. From now on, you will be able to sign in on your device with your PIN.

The setup has finished successfully. Please login to your device with your credentials.

Now your desktop shows up. At first, software is installed in the background. Give your device 15 minutes to sync. Then restart and log in again.

Done. You have successfully activated your device.

Continue with step 2.

Step 2: Install additional Software

Individual software, which is needed to work productively, can be installed via the app „Company Portal“. There you can find an overview of apps, which are already installed on your device and apps, which are available for download.
If you don’t find an app, please contact your support team.

Now open the start menu. Type in „Company Portal“ in the search bar and confirm with „open“.

In the tab „Apps“ you can find all additional apps and software which is available and can be installed on your device. Your company has determined which apps are available here.

In the tab „Downloads & Updates“ you find already installed apps on your device as well as the progress of started downloads.

In the tab „Devices“ you find details of your device, e. g. compliance status. This information is often needed in case you need to communicate with your support team.

Done!

Your new device is now ready to rumble. From now on you work like a digital leader.
